When I captured Saturn..

It was back in May 2007. I went to Police academy in Hyderabad for attending some Anniversary of the Academy. It started late in the evening when the Sun was becoming more orangish. There were all games, events, singing competitions, arts etc. I was more interested in taking pictures rather than watching them perform. I had a Canon A530 which I got in a raffle at my company Anniversary. After all the events are done, there comes the speech part. The guests and chief guests were talking and they kept on talking and making promises that they will do wonders for the academy and all that crap. As usual I got bored and I looked up. What I saw was beautiful dark night far away from city lights and pollution. I wanted to capture the moon as it was the only shining object with a few twinkling stars, I could see in that sheet of dark. So immediately I started setting up my camera with whatever little knowledge that I have about the cameras. With the minimum shutter speed of 13 secs that I have on my camera, I have put it on an empty chair just beside me. I took 3 shots with the same setting, and then turned it off.
When I copied those pics to my computer, I could see a bright spot on the cornor of the photograph. I thought its a star, but to my astonishment, it was not a star, but a planet. And I zoomed in trying to find out which planet it is. It was saturn. I already knew the brightest star in the sky in 2007 was Saturn, as I follow some astronomy, still I could not believe that 'I captured it in my camera'. Though it was a serendipity, I want to take the credit as a novice photographer. No credits yet though, but it makes me happy.

We are losing.

Green House Gases, A wrong name indeed. They are good as they are needed to keep the earth warm. But today, the earth is hotter than it is supposed to be. We know that the nature always plays a balanced act. But not in this case, because the pollution levels are unpreditcably high. And nature itself gave up on it. Which means life will be miserable on earth in the future. May be its not you, who is going to face that misery, it may be your kin or your kin's kin.

What do we do so that our next generations live safely?  Its not that we port them to Moon or Mars, which I feel is impossible. 'Reduce the waste'. The waste that we generate is impacting the world directly or indirectly!! And you can not recycle infinite quantities of waste matter. And not everything is recyclable. I dont expect you to stop using anything that you are using, just be aware that you can also reduce the waste in your own way and help save this earth.
